MARIJUANA

 

 

Mature marijuana plant, in full "bud", with the "bud" being the most desired portion. Fully matured plants can reach 6’ to 8’ in height locally, and are often grown in wooded areas to avoid detection. Marijuana leaves grow in odd numbered clusters, generally 3 – 7 leaves per cluster.

 

One pound of processed marijuana. This quantity would typically be sold to a distributor, who would then break it down into street sale quantities. Generally sold at the street level in eighth, quarter, half, and one ounce quantities. Eighth ounce averages $35.00, quarter ounce $60.00, half ounce $100.00, and one ounce $200.00.
Hashish. A form of marijuana in which the leaves have been crushed into a powder, soaked in alcohol, and then allowed to dry (evaporate). The "hash" is then smoked in a pipe, or broken up and added to tobacco. Joints. Marijuana rolled into cigarettes with rolling papers. Roaches (partially smoked marijuana cigarettes) are often saved for re-use.

Signs and Symptoms: Difficult to recognize unless they are under the influence of the drug at the time of observation.  Casual users may show none of the general symptoms.  Rapid, loud talking and bursts of laughter in early states of intoxication; Sleepy or stuporous in the later stages; Forgetfulness in conversation; Inflammation in whites of eyes; Odor similar to burnt rope on clothing or breath; Tendency to drive slowly; Distorted sense of time passage; Tendency to overestimate time intervals; Use or possession of paraphernalia
